The Zoe Tarn is a small lake on the island of Heard in the southern Indian Ocean . It is fed by the meltwater of the Mary Powell Glacier and is located about 500 m inland from Corinthian Bay , into which the overflow of the lake flows.
The lake is named after the American brig Zoe from New London , Connecticut , which operated in the waters around Heard under Captain Henry Rogers in 1856 and whose crew spent the winter on Heard.
