Customs number

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A seven-digit customs number was an identifier that was issued centrally by the German Federal Customs Administration .

A customs number was given to anyone who was involved in procedures with IT support or in approval procedures of the Federal Office for Economics and Export Control (BAFA) or the Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food (BLE) or who regularly submitted customs declarations . The customs number was the proof of the paperless set import sales tax for the tax office in the IT specialist procedure ATLAS . It was up to August 18, 2008 at the coordinating body ATLAS (KoST-Atlas) in Karlsruhe , afterwards to the Information and Knowledge Management Customs (IWM) in Dresden . The obligation to provide a customs number only existed for economic operators.

The customs number was replaced on November 1st, 2009 by the EORI number (EORI - Economic Operators' Registration and Identification System). Customs and EORI numbers were assigned in parallel for a transitional period.

The customs number should not be confused with the eight-digit customs tariff number for identifying goods in foreign trade .
