The facility was the second, after the zoo in Beuthen , to be built in Upper Silesia, and is the oldest still existing facility in the region today. In 1980 the area of the zoo was expanded to 19 hectares. The zoo was badly damaged during World War II and the 1997 flood of the Oder . After the flood, the reconstruction began immediately, which lasted about a year. The zoo was expanded to its current size of around 30 hectares.

investment

The outdoor enclosures are designed according to the natural conditions of the respective species. They are limited by natural obstacles such as ditches, water courses or islands. There is also a petting zoo here.
