Zoran Bognar ( Serbian - Cyrillic Зоран Богнар ; born January 30, 1965 in Vukovar , Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian poet and author .

life and work

Bognar is a representative of contemporary Serbian poetry . He is a member of the Association of Serbian Writers , an honorary member of the Society of Writers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and an honorary member of the PEN Writers' Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bognar works as an editor for the Serbian publishing house Dereta and is also president of the Ars Longa Foundation for the Preservation of Fine Arts . Zoran Bognar lives and works in Belgrade.

In addition to numerous Serbian literary prizes (including the Isidora Sekulić Prize 1999 for his collection of poems Novi čovek ( The New Man )), he has received three international awards: Premio Vannelli (Italy, 1997), Mediterranean Lion (Montenegro, 1998) and the Hubert Burda -Prize for young Eastern European poetry (Germany, 1999). In 2002 he received a scholarship to stay at the artist house Villa Waldberta on Lake Starnberg.

Bognar worked for sixteen years on a trilogy of three volumes ( Neue Sintflut , Die neue Arche Noah , Der neue Mensch ), which he described as exemplary for his poetry, which is "expressive, philosophical and sacred, sometimes metaphysical, but above all anthropocentric" be.

His work has been translated into Italian, French, English, Hungarian, German, Slovenian, Greek, Macedonian, Spanish, Turkish, Bulgarian, Dutch, Frisian and Armenian languages.
