Zsigmond Falk

Zsigmond Falk (born March 30, 1870 in Pest , † February 15, 1935 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian writer and editor .

Life

After attending grammar school, Falk completed a law degree . During his studies he worked for the Pesti Könyvnyomda Részvénytársaság ( Pesti Könyvnyomda Részvénytársaság ), where he acquired extensive knowledge of the printing trade , after a few years became deputy director and in 1913 general director of this company. A study trip took him to the United States of America . He visited the world exhibition in Chicago in 1893 and brought the first typesetting machine to Hungary from there . Further trips to various European countries and Russia followed . Through knowledge acquired in Germany and Austria, he contributed to the development and improvement of sheet music printing in Hungary. Falk wrote articles for various weekly magazines such as Magyar Ifjúság , Magyar Géniusz , Élet , Vasárnapi Újság as well as for the daily newspaper Pester Lloyd . From 1894 he was editor of the illustrated weekly newspaper Ország-Világ and the Ország-Világ Almanach , later editor-in-chief of the paper. He was also one of the editors of the monthly musical magazine Magyar dal- és zeneközlöny (Hungarian song and music gazette). He was also General Secretary of the Hungarian National Singers Association ( Országos magyar daláregyesület ) and also worked as a music and theater critic.

His books include travelogues, short stories, short stories, non-fiction and a novel. Some of his works have also appeared in German and French translation.

Zsigmond Falk's grave is located in the Farkasrét Cemetery ( Farkasréti temető ) in Budapest.
