Zsuzsa Bálint (* 1968 in Romania ) is a German pianist .

Live and act

She was born into a Hungarian family of musicians in Transylvania , where she received her first piano lessons at the age of seven. Her talent was shown early on. Since the age of eleven she successfully participated in national music competitions and by the age of 13 had already performed with all the leading symphony orchestras in Romania.

After moving to Germany in 1987, she first studied as a young student in Boris Bloch's soloist class at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen, which she later graduated with. She was admitted to the concert exam at the Berlin University of the Arts , where she passed her concert qualification with distinction from Georg Sava . Master classes have also brought them together with the greatest pianists and teachers.

She also demonstrated her early artistic maturity by taking part in numerous competitions. Among other things, she won first prizes in international competitions in France (“Château de Courcillon”) and Spain (San Sebastian), as well as a prize in Italy (Parma).

Since then she has been heard regularly with orchestras as well as recitals, such as in the Berlin Philharmonie , in Munich, in Hanover and in many other musical centers in Europe such as Paris, Bucharest, Budapest, St. Petersburg, Szczecin, London, Porto and Lisbon . In 1999 she made her New York debut with six concerts.

Zsuzsa Bálint lives in Berlin, where she teaches at the Berlin University of the Arts . She also leads master classes at the University of Nebraska , USA, and is regularly invited to perform solo there. Since 2005 she has been a pianist at the international master classes in Baden-Baden. In 2005 Deutschlandradio broadcast her solo recital from the Dresden Zwinger .

In 2007 she founded the Ensemble Xinowa Sej , in which she interprets original compositions for three pianos with pianists Kyoko Hosono and Dunja Robotti, including arrangements of well-known tango, jazz and film compositions. She also impressively documents her artistic work in regular recordings, especially on Bayerischer Rundfunk. In 2009 her solo CD with works by Tchaikovsky and piano arrangements of the ballet music for Nutcracker and Swan Lake was released in the USA .

Zsuzsa Bálint has also celebrated successes beyond the classical repertoire as the pianist of the “Tango Efusion” ensemble. As a tango lover, she made her own arrangements of Astor Piazzolla's works and developed a solo tango program.
