Georg Sava

Georg Sava (born July 28, 1943 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian- German pianist .

Life

Georg Sava majored in piano at the city conservatory in Târgu Mureș and at the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca with György Halmos. After completing his studies, he became his assistant.

In 1977 Sava emigrated to the Federal Republic of Germany and worked as a répétiteur at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts and as a piano teacher at the Ludwigsburg youth music school . In 1979 he became a visiting professor at the Berlin University of the Arts until he was appointed to a professorship ( C3 ) there in 1982 . In 1997 Georg Sava was appointed professor for piano ( C4 ) at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin, succeeding Dieter Zechlin . He taught here until he retired in 2012.

His private and university students in Berlin include many prize winners from competitions and concert pianists. Among these are Zsuzsa Balint , Emre Elivar , Caroline Fischer , Naoko Fukumoto, Hélène Grimaud , Holger Groschopp, Cristina Marton , Tomomi Okumura, Cecilia Pillado , Dunja Robotti, Liza Stepanova and Ji-yeoun You .
