Emre Elivar

Emre Elivar (born August 21, 1976 in Ankara ) is a Turkish concert pianist .

Life

Emre Elivar began his piano studies at the age of five and graduated from the State Conservatory in Ankara. A DAAD scholarship enabled him to continue his education at the “Carl Maria von Weber” University of Music in Dresden with Peter Rösel and then at the “Hanns Eisler” University of Music in Berlin with Georg Sava , where he passed his concert exam with three honors .

Elivar has proven his talent with several awards at international piano competitions, such as B. 1999 in Bremen , where he received three awards. In the same year at the "Cidado do Porto" and in 2000 in the "World Piano Competition" in Cincinnati, he received the bronze medal; In 2001 he won the Steinway Prize, the Arthur Schnabel Prize in 2002 and the Vendôme Prize in 2003.

His most important concerts on an international level include the Turkey premiere of the first volume of JS Bach's work " The Well-Tempered Clavier " at the Istanbul International Music Festival 2005, the great evening of variations with works by F. Mendelssohn (Variations Sérieuses op. 54 ), J. Brahms (both booklets of Paganini Variations op. 35) and L. v. Beethoven ( Diabelli Variations op. 120) again at the Istanbul International Music Festival 2008, his US debut in Washington DC in 2009, as part of the “Embassy Series”, dedicated to rarely performed works by R. Schumann and F. Chopin and his program with works by D. Shostakovich (Aphorisms Op. 13 and Sonata No. 2, Op. 61) and Prokofiev (Visions Fugitives, Op. 22, Sarcasms, Op. 17, and Sonata No. 2, Op. 14). As a soloist, he has played with orchestras such as Konzerthausorchester Berlin , Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie , Dortmund Philharmonic , Kassel State Orchestra , Anhaltische Philharmonie Dessau , Bilkent Symphony Orchestra, Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra , Orquestra Nacional do Porto, Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra and others

In addition to his Bremen competition recording with the French Suite No. 3 BWV 817 by JS Bach and the Piano Concerto No. 1 by F. Liszt, the artist has so far recorded works by various Turkish composers as well as the three Last Sonatas, op. 109, 110, 111 as a double album and the Diabelli Variations, op. 120 by L. v. Beethoven up. The CD with works by F. Schubert (Three Piano Pieces D 946) and R. Schumann (Symphonic Etudes op. 13) met with good reviews at international level. In June 2010, almost exactly on the 200th birthday of R. Schumann, there was a concert with his two sonatas, which were broadcast live on 50 member stations of the European Broadcasting Union .
