Zubaida bint Jafar
Umm Jafar Zubaida bint Jaʿfar ibn al-Mansūr ( Arabic أم جعفر زبيدة بنت جعفر بن المنصور, DMG Umm Ǧaʿfar Zubaida bint Ǧaʿfar ibn al-Manṣūr ; † July 10, 831 ) was the granddaughter of the Abbasid caliph al-Mansūr and cousin Hārūn ar-Raschīd , who married her in 781. In 787 she gave birth to the future caliph al-Amīn , who succeeded ar-Rashīd.
Zubaida became famous for her donations to the ulama and the poor, the aqueduct Ain al-Muschāsh that she built, which supplied Mecca with water, and the water supply facilities she donated on the pilgrimage route from Iraq to Mecca and Medina . These supply facilities are now called Darb Zubaida and, according to the Saudi government, are to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site .
