The Access Examination Ordinance , or Access Examination Regulation for short , gave professionally qualified people without a high school diploma or a certificate of university entrance qualification (general university entrance qualification, subject-related university entrance qualification, technical college entrance qualification ) access to university studies in North Rhine-Westphalia .

This ordinance was replaced on March 13, 2010 by the new "Ordinance on university access for those qualified in vocational training ( Vocational training college access ordinance - BeBHSZuVO -)" of March 8, 2010 ( GV. NRW. P. 160) December 2015 was limited (§ 13 Abs. 5 BeBHSZuVO).

At the time of application, you must be 22 years of age. In addition, the applicant must have completed vocational training (in accordance with the Vocational Training Act or equivalent) and then have been employed for at least three years.

execution

The ordinance itself only provides general guidelines for such a test . Who are alone for the content, scope and central fixing universities responsible. It is certain that the interested party must apply in writing to the respective university stating the desired course of study for the entrance examination. The responsible examination board then decides on admission on the basis of the examination regulations applicable to this degree program ( formal preliminary examination ).

The implementation of the entrance examination varies (due to the broad normative discretion of the ministry) from university to university. At many universities and technical colleges it is the practice to take an exam on general education , English , and possibly mathematics . In addition, there is an examination of the content of the desired subject.

Passing the exam entitles the student to begin studying at the respective university, depending on the course. After at least half of all required study and examination achievements have been completed, it is possible to change universities. A change of subject is excluded. However, you can only change within related courses.

For dentistry , medicine and pharmacy , special rules apply.
