The train number registration system ( ZNA ) is a technical facility of the railway . It is used to replace the telephone train notification procedure between the train notification points (and thus to reduce the burden on the dispatcher ) and to enable automatic train tracking by the control technology of the operations centers . A train number reporting system is also a prerequisite for equipping with self- setting operation or train control . Other systems such as B. hot box location systems or traveler information systems can be supplied with data from the train number reporting system.

functionality

The train number reporting system is usually only used for train journeys . At the beginning of a train journey or when entering an area equipped with train number reporting systems, the train with its train number is dialed into the train number reporting system using an alphanumeric keyboard. While the train is moving, the train number displayed in the train number field automatically switches from track section to track section and from interlocking to interlocking. As a rule, the stop of the signals , in rare cases the track vacancy, is evaluated as a stepping criterion. The forwarding of the train numbers between the interlockings takes place via a bus connection .

With mechanical and electromechanical interlockings, the train numbers are displayed on a separate monitor. In relay interlockings , the train number display is often integrated into the control table or control panel . With electronic interlockings , the train numbers are displayed on the interlocking user interface .

The train number reporting system is connected to a train number printer , which automatically registers the train numbers with the respective departure, transit or arrival times at the individual operating points and continuously prints them out. This expression replaces the need to keep the train log . In the case of electronic signal boxes, the train numbers are output in a memory that is only printed out when required.

Equipment in Germany

In the DB Netz area, almost all main lines , but also some secondary lines, are equipped with train number reporting systems.

When building new electronic interlockings, they are equipped with train number reporting systems as standard. In addition, the routes leading into the parking area are also equipped with corresponding systems (dial-in points).
