History and famous members

The box with the full name Johannis-Loge called "Zum Leuchtthurm an der Ostsee" in Lauenburg in Pomerania was opened on November 17, 1866 in Lauenburg i. Pom. founded and had many important members who came from Lauenburg and nearby cities such as Stolp and Danzig . Honorary members included the Gdansk high school teacher Julius Czwalina and the Prussian major general Karl Friedrich von Flotow . Among its members were some important entrepreneurs, such as the match manufacturer Wilhelm Hertzberg from Köslin , owner of one of the largest factories in the region, the brewery owner Wilhelm Hertzberg, as well as members of the Gdansk dealer family Lenz, which owned department stores. But pharmacists, teachers and government officials were also among the members.
