Zumiez is an American clothing retail company. The main target groups are skateboarders , snowboarders and surfers .
history
The company was founded by Tom Campion and Gary Haakenson in 1978. The company is headquartered in Lynnwood , Washington. In 2006, the US company Fast Forward , which sells skateboards and related clothing, was acquired.
At the end of January 2015, Zumiez had 603 stores, mostly in the USA and Canada, and 18 in Europe. An online shop is also operated, which also delivers to Germany and Switzerland, among other things.
By buying Blue-Tomato, Zumiez is trying to build a large market in Europe.
Blue tomato
Zumiez acquired the Austrian board sport and fashion retailer Blue Tomato in 2012, which sells clothing and equipment for snowboarding , skiing, surfing and skating. The foundation stone for Blue Tomato was laid in 1988 by the former European snowboard champion Gerfried Schuller . It is sold in the online shop, which is available in 14 languages, and in 27 shops, 14 in Germany and 13 in Austria. Shops in Freiburg and Zurich will follow shortly. The range includes over 650 brands and 450,000 products. Blue-Tomato is also known for its large presence at events and in social media.
Blue-Tomato has its headquarters in Schladming and a warehouse in Graz . Blue-Tomato currently employs around 425 people.
