The Zurn Peak is a mountain in Antarctica . It is 1515 m high and is located in Marie-Byrd-Land on the northern edge of the Toney Mountains , about 6 km northeast of its highest point, Richmond Peak . After being mapped by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and photographed by the US Navy between 1959 and 1971 , it was named in 1976 after the German geophysicist Walter Zürn , who was scientific director of the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in 1972 .
