The top candidate of the list association was the tax advisor, Junge Freiheit author and state chairman of the Free Voters Brandenburg Hans-Jürgen Malir, who was also Colonel of the Bundeswehr Reserve and Berlin State Chairman of the Association of Reservists of the German Bundeswehr e. V. is.

In second place on the state list was the lawyer and state chairman of the Brandenburg United Citizens' Movement, Péter Vida , who was previously active in the CDU and a supporter of the FDP politician Jürgen Möllemann, was excluded from the CDU in 2004 by the Federal Party Court and, among other things, wrote an article for the Young Freedom wrote. More than 120 groups of voters and political associations were involved in the list association.

program

Excerpts from the citizens' program of the free voters:

"The entry requirements for referendums and referendums are to be made easier."

"Public tenders are to be published in small lots so that the Brandenburg economy can participate promisingly."

"The party funding must be changed so that the established parties can no longer preserve their power and gain competitive advantages over oppositional, independent and critical citizens."

State election 2009

On July 23, 2009, Together for Brandenburg: Free Voters was recognized as a list association by the Brandenburg State Returning Officer. At its meeting on August 14, 2009, the Brandenburg state electoral committee approved the nomination with a total of 44 direct candidates and 36 candidates on the state list for election on September 27, 2009. Thus the list association stood for election in all Brandenburg constituencies. The list association achieved a result of 1.7% in the state elections with 23,196 second votes. In addition, 32,466 first votes were cast on the list union, which corresponds to 2.4%.

Party funding

With the second vote result of 1.7%, the list association jumped the hurdle for state party funding . However, the Bundestag administration responsible for setting the state funds denied the right to party funding, as this is only available to parties under the Political Parties Act. A list association, however, does not meet the requirements of a party, since this, unlike parties, is only temporary. The Berlin Administrative Court upheld this decision in December 2010.
