The ordinance on the approval of additives for foodstuffs for technological purposes , in short Additives Approval Ordinance (ZZulV), regulates the approval , labeling and maximum quantities of additives for foodstuffs as a federal German ordinance .

All additives, including colorants , preservatives , sweeteners and antioxidants , fall under the Additive Admissions Ordinance . The Flavor Ordinance applies to flavorings .

The version still valid in parts replaced the previous “Additive Approval Ordinance” of December 22, 1981 ( Federal Law Gazette I, pp. 1625, 1633 ).

The current legal standard for additives is Regulation (EC) No. 1333/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of December 16, 2008 on food additives.
