European Workers Party
The European Workers' Party (short name: EAP ) was a small party within the so-called LaRouche movement of Lyndon LaRouche and Helga Zepp-LaRouche , which appeared in Germany between 1974 and 1986 . She is considered a forerunner of the civil rights movement Solidarity . In Sweden there is a party called Europeiska arbetarpartiet, which is also part of the LaRouche movement.
development
The party, which was founded in 1974 and initially - according to the Office for the Protection of the Constitution of North Rhine-Westphalia - was more Trotskyist -oriented, mainly through short reports on public radio and television, which parties are granted in the run-up to elections. The EAP expressly spoke out in favor of nuclear energy , which surprised quite a few viewers at the time. She also spoke out against " soft drugs ".
The federal chairwoman was Helga Zepp-LaRouche, born in Trier in 1948 . From the publications distributed by the EAP it can be concluded that the control center of the organization was in the USA. Since 1977 Helga Zepp-LaRouche has been married to Lyndon LaRouche , who is 26 years her senior and who was running in the US presidential election.
In the period from around 1976/77 to the end of the 1980s, the party was viewed by many critics, but not in the public right-wing scene, as right-wing extremist . Conversely, the EAP itself suspected the Greens party as part of a global conspiracy headed by the WWF , the English high nobility and Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, as well as Masonic lodges and other “supranational powers”.
The best known of the periodicals published by the EAP is the Executive Intelligence Review. Here, with the appearance of a news and document magazine, numerous conspiracy theories are spread, which are also known by other groups. In 1982 Helga Zepp-LaRouche founded a "Club of Life" to campaign against the Club of Rome .
The EAP in Germany had contacts with some right and left groups that were also observed by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution. There are no reports from other European countries - despite the claim arising from the name. With the European Labor Party based in London, which was represented by 16 members in the European Parliament, there are apparently no connections apart from the coincidental name match.
Nothing is known about the organization's funding sources. The number of members is too small to explain funding from contributions. Government grants (party funding) were not paid due to the low election results.
The EAP had around 2000 members. The party has not stood in elections since 1986. Due to the objectives and personnel movements, the party Patrioten für Deutschland , later also the civil rights movement Solidarity (BüSo), can be regarded as the successor to the EAP. Helga Zepp-LaRouche has been the federal chairwoman of BüSo since 1992.
