Overhang and
compensation mandates
CDU: 3 overhang mandates
SPD: 1 compensation mandate

The CDU won 67 of its 68 seats as a direct mandate. In the Biberach constituency , she received both a first and a second mandate. The SPD was able to win three direct mandates; The rest of the MPs, like all MPs from the FDP and the Greens, entered the state parliament through second mandates . The state election law of Baden-Württemberg does not recognize lists.

With four overhang seats, the number of MPs increased to 124 instead of the nominal 120 seats in the state parliament. As a result, the Greens narrowly missed group status, as they did not have the necessary five percent of MPs, and were only given group status.
