State election in Rhineland-Palatinate 1979
The state election in Rhineland-Palatinate in 1979 took place on March 18. The opposition parties SPD and FDP achieved an increase in votes, while the CDU , led by Prime Minister Bernhard Vogel , lost votes, but was still able to defend its absolute majority.
