Zvi Heifetz (2013)

Zvi Heifetz (born December 9, 1956 in Tomsk , Siberia ) is an Israeli lawyer, entrepreneur and diplomat .

Heifetz was born in 1956 in Siberia, where his family had been exiled in 1940. It was only Stalin's death that made it possible for them to return to Riga , where the family originally came from. Heifetz spent the first nine months of his life in Siberia and then grew up in Riga until 1971. In 1971, when he was 14 years old, his family emigrated to Israel, settled near Afula and later moved to Petach Tikva . After graduating from high school , Heifetz served in the Israeli army for seven years . He then studied law at Tel Aviv University and then became a member of the Israeli Bar Association . He opened his own law firm in Tel Aviv . In 1989 Heifetz became a member of one of the first groups of Israeli diplomats at the Dutch embassy in Moscow . After a few months in Moscow, he returned to Tel Aviv and continued working as a lawyer. In 1997 he served as an External Legal Adviser in the office of the Israeli Prime Minister on matters relating to the former Soviet Union .

In addition to his work as a lawyer, he became Deputy Chairman of the Maariv Group in 1999. In 2001 he became chairman of Hed-Arzi Music Production Company and Tower Records.

In 2004 Heifetz became the Israeli ambassador to the United Kingdom . In 2007 he was replaced in this post by Ron Prosor . From 2013 to 2015 he was the Ambassador of the State of Israel in Austria , from 2015 to 2017 Ambassador to Russia and since 2017 Ambassador to China .

Heifetz is married and has seven children.
