Zvone Dragan (born May 12, 1939 in Mladje near Krško , Kingdom of Yugoslavia ) is a former Yugoslav or Slovenian politician and diplomat.

Life

Zvone Dragan studied economics at the University of Ljubljana . He joined the Union of Communists of Yugoslavia (BdKJ) in 1958 and initially held a number of party functions in Celje . When planning the Krško nuclear power plant , he was chairman of the procurement committee that Westinghouse selected as its technology supplier. From 1968 to 1974 and from 1978 he was a member of the central committee of the Slovenian regional association of the BdKJ. From 1974 to 1978 and from 1979 he was a member of the Central Committee of the BdKJ at the federal level.

From 1973 he belonged to the government of SR Slovenia . As the successor to the late Edvard Kardelj , he was a member of the government at federal level from 1979 to 1984, where he was one of the deputies of the Prime Minister Milka Planinc as Vice President of the Federal Executive Council . Among other things, he conducted the negotiations with the International Monetary Fund, which were necessary due to a Yugoslav liquidity crisis . In 1984 he resigned for health reasons.

After his recovery he was Yugoslav Ambassador to the People's Republic of China from 1985 to 1989 . He was then head of the Department for Western Europe and North America in the Yugoslav Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

After Slovenia's independence , he was the Slovenian ambassador to the Czech Republic from 1992 to 1998 , and then to Poland from 1999 to 2003 .
