Branch Canal Magdeburg

The Magdeburg canal is a waterway that belongs to the Magdeburg ports and is located near the Magdeburg waterway intersection.

The 2.5 km long canal leads south from the Rothensee descent canal , past the harbor basins 1 and 2 to the Magdeburg industrial port , from where there is a connection to the Elbe . The branch canal runs parallel to the Rothensee descent canal and the Elbe. Steinkopfinsel is located on the eastern bank of the canal .

The canal was built in 1929 and served to develop the newly built ports of Trennungsdamm , Großgaserei and port basins 1 and 2.
