The twister on the horizontal bar

The double grip (or mixed grip ) is a type of grip used in apparatus gymnastics that is a combination of an instep grip and a comb grip .

One hand of the gymnast holds the spar (for parallel bars ) or the bar (for horizontal bars ) in the comb grip, while the other holds it in the instep grip. The grip is often used specifically for stretching gymnastics, as it can initiate a rotation of the body around the longitudinal axis.

Also known is the term Zwiegriff in rings . Since a rule change in 2005 , the referee decreed the double grip in the event of a tie between the two wrestlers at the end of each round.
