Zygmunt Miłkowski

Zygmunt Fortunat Miłkowski , pseudonyms Teodor Tomasz Jeż and Wladyslaw Bonar (born March 23, 1824 in Saracea , Podolia , Russian Empire ; † January 11, 1915 in Lausanne , Switzerland) was a Polish writer and politician.

Life

Miłkowski attended the University of Kiev , emigrated in 1846, participated in the Hungarian uprising in 1848 , then stayed in Wallachia and again came to the fore during the Polish uprising of 1863. From 1871 he lived in Lausanne .

Towards the end of the 1850s, he introduced himself rather noisily into Polish literature through a series of short stories (first in Gazeta Warszawska ). They mostly caused a sensation because they presented the otherwise seldom treated South Slavic and Hungarian conditions with great expertise and artistic skill.
