Anke Christina Engelke (real name: Anke Christina Fischer ; born December 21, 1965 in Montreal , Canada ) is a German comedian , actress , entertainer , singer , voice actress and television presenter .

Life

childhood

Anke Engelke was born in Montreal , Canada in 1965 . Her father was a Lufthansa manager, her mother a foreign language correspondent . She grew up with her sister in three languages ​​( German , English and French ). In 1971 the family moved to Rösrath near Cologne . Engelke attended the Freiherr-vom-Stein-Gymnasium there and became a member of the Sonntagskinder school choir . In 1975 she appeared with the group in Peter Frankenfeld's TV show Musik ist Trumpf ; the choir accompanied the singer Heino on this television appearance . For the ZDF series Sing mit Heino (1977–1979), of which recordings were also made, she accompanied the pop singer in front of the camera with the children's choir. When the choir accompanied the singer Udo Jürgens on a tour in 1977 , the eleven-year-old was discovered by Radio Luxemburg after a duet with Jürgens for the radio.

The first years in the entertainment business

From 1978 to 1980 she presented the program Moment mal on Radio Luxemburg . In 1979 she sang in the group Manuel & Pony Das Lied von Manuel and appeared on the ZDF hit parade . From 1979 to 1986 she was the presenter of the daily children's programs on the radio exhibition for ZDF ; together with Benny Schnier she moderated the ZDF holiday program . In 1980 she made an appearance at Bio's Bahnhof , which promoted her career. In 1981 the single Anke & Alexis Weissenberg - Lullaby for Adults was released . Engelke broke off her studies in English , Romance studies and education in Cologne.

The radio station SWF in Baden-Baden trained her to be an editor in 1986 , and later she moderated on SWF3 radio programs such as the Pop Shop until 1998 . During this time, she played herself as the SWF3 radio host in the Tatort episode Death in Space . Since 1989, Anke Engelke and her sister Susanne have been singers in the group Fred Kellner and the famous Soulsisters , who perform live for around two to three weeks a year. Career

From 1996 to 2000 Engelke appeared alongside Ingolf Lück , Bastian Pastewka , Marco Rima and later Markus Maria Profitlich in the Sat.1 sketch program Die Wochenshow . In doing so, she proved her versatility in a wide variety of roles, including as Ricky, a parody of the member of the girl's band Tic Tac Toe of the same name . Another production for Sat.1 was the comedy series Anke . The series, in which Ingo Naujoks and Roswitha Schreiner, among others , had fixed roles, played behind the scenes of a fictional talk show and ran from 1999 to 2001. Among other things, she won the German Comedy Award for Best Comedian for her role as fictional talk show host Anke . In addition, the series was nominated in 2001 for the Adolf Grimme Prize .

From 2002 to 2004 she was seen on Sat.1 with the sketch show Ladykracher . The show was nominated for an Emmy in 2003 and received several prizes, including the German Comedy Prize. Since 2007 she lends her voice to the character Marge Simpson in the animated series The Simpsons on ProSieben . She thus succeeded the actress Elisabeth Volkmann, who died in July 2006 . The first Simpsons episode with Engelke as a narrator was A Perfect Gentleman on January 21, 2007. Since September 2007, she has been part of the preschool children's television series Die Sendung mit dem Elefanten . In the television series Kommissarin Lucas she plays the younger sister of the inspector played by Ulrike Kriener . She also parodied in December 2007 and 2009 together with Bastian Pastewka in Merry Christmas! - Various TV shows with Wolfgang & Anneliese . In 2008 she played the mother of one of the three main characters in the cinema comedy Naughty Girls . A year later she was the presenter at the presentation of the European Film Prize in Bochum .

In May 2011 she moderated the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf together with Stefan Raab and Judith Rakers . In October 2011 she won the German Television Award in Cologne in the category "Best Entertainment Show of the Year" (together with Raab and Rakers for the moderation mentioned) and in the category "Best Comedy" for Ladykracher . In May 2012 she was part of the five-member German jury for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku . As the jury spokesperson, she announced the German voting results in the final. Engelke was the only one of the 42 jury speakers to use the audience's attention to draw attention to the human rights situation in Azerbaijan . During the live broadcast of the awarding of points from Germany, she said in English: “Nobody could vote for their own country tonight. But it is good to vote and it is good to have a choice. Good luck on your trip, Azerbaijan. Europe looks at you ”. She received widespread media approval for her critical words.

Also in 2012 she moderated the presentation of the Fairtrade Awards . From July 2013 to November 2015 she hosted the talk show Anke hat Zeit on WDR television . Since 2013 she can also be seen in the Sowas wie ... series. In the report series, she speaks to people and thus approaches a specific topic. family

In 1994 Anke Engelke married the keyboard player Andreas Grimm, with whom she had a daughter born in 1996 . The marriage was divorced in May 2005. In 2000 she was in a relationship with the TV presenter Niels Ruf for a few months and until March 2003 with Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre for four years . On December 21, 2005 - her 40th birthday - she married the musician Claus Fischer , who is the father of their two sons, who were born in July 2005 and January 2009. She took her husband's family name, but continues to use the Engelke name. The couple's split became known in May 2015. Anke Engelke lives in Cologne.

Social and scientific commitment

Since 2003 she has been an ambassador for the German drug aid organization action medeor . As part of this commitment, she visited health projects to fight malaria in various African countries, including Tanzania and most recently in Malawi in 2017. She is also a visiting lecturer at the Art Academy for Media Cologne for the creative television production department, where she has been teaching since 2010.
