Erkut Yilmaz (Turkish spelling Erkut Yılmaz ; * 1975 or 1976 in Turkey ) is a professional American poker player . He is a two-time title holder of the World Poker Tour , where he was named Player of the Year in 2018/19 .

Personal

Yilmaz is from Istanbul and moved to Sacramento in the early 2000s . He has been married since July 2018.

Poker career

Yilmaz has been playing professional poker since 2006 and has participated in prestigious live tournaments since 2009 .

In mid-April 2009, Yilmaz won the main event of the Sierra Poker Classic in Lake Tahoe and thus his first live tournament as well as a prize money of almost 30,000 US dollars . In July 2012 he was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and finished in 231st place in the main event, worth around 45,000 US dollars. In the WSOP 2013 Yilmaz placed in three tournaments of the variant No-Limit Hold'em in the money, and he by far his biggest cash prize of over $ 120,000 again in the main event won. At the beginning of March 2014, he made his first place in the main event of the World Poker Tour (WPT) and finished 17th in Los Angeles for just under 55,000 US dollars. In July 2016, Yilmaz won the Deep Stack Extravaganza at the Venetian Resort Hotel in Las Vegas for a prize of over $ 90,000. At the 2016 WSOP , he sat at the final table of the Colossus event and finished sixth for around $ 175,000. In mid-September 2018, Yilmaz won the WPT Main Event in Atlantic City and secured the grand prize of more than $ 575,000. In March 2019, he again prevailed at the WPT Main Event and received over 300,000 US dollars in prize money for the win in Lincoln . Because of these achievements, Yilmaz was named WPT Player of the Year in early June 2019 .

In total, Yilmaz has earned more than $ 2 million in poker in live tournaments.
