JC Tran (* 20th January 1977 in Nha Trang , Vietnam , as Justin Cuong Van Tran ) is a professional American poker player of Vietnamese origin.

Tran has made over $ 13 million playing poker in live tournaments . He is two-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker , in 2013 the final table of the Main Event reached. He is also a two-time title holder of the World Poker Tour , where he was named Player of the Year in 2006/07 .

Tran was born the youngest of eight children and a degree in Business Management Information Systems at the California State University in Sacramento .

Poker career

Career

Tran has achieved the prize ranks in numerous high-value poker tournaments. So far he has celebrated his greatest successes in the tournaments of the World Poker Tour . With a total of five final tables, he is one of the most successful players on the tour. Tran reached eight final tables at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas and finished 117th in the main event in 2004 and 2005 . With a WSOP Circuit tournament in Las Vegas, he took second place and won 250,000 US dollars . In October 2006 he won the Main Event of the World Championship of Online Poker on the online platform PokerStars under the nickname area23JC . It's the biggest poker tournament on the internet and Tran won $ 670,000 after a deal at the final table. In March 2007, the native Vietnamese finished second at the LA Poker Classic in Los Angeles and won $ 1.2 million in prize money. Just four weeks later, he won his first title at the WPT. In Reno , he won $ 683,000 heads-up against Juan Alvarado. These results secured him the title of Player of the Year for the fifth WPT season. At the 2008 WSOP he won his first bracelet in the variant No-Limit Hold'em for about 630,000 US dollars. In November 2008, Tran won the PartyPoker.com Premier League's third season for a $ 300,000 win bonus. His second bracelet for more than $ 235,000 in the Pot Limit Omaha variant followed at the 2009 WSOP . At the main event of the 2013 WSOP , he reached the final table as the chip leader, which was played in early November 2013. There he finished fifth and received his highest prize money to date of over $ 2 million.
