Best documentary
In 2015, the selection procedure for the Best Documentary Film category was changed to reflect the growing importance of European documentary films. The EFA and the European Documentary Network (EDN) selected ten documentary film festivals ( IDFA , CPH: DOX, Visions du Réel , DOK Leipzig , Docslisboa, Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival, Jihlava , Cinéma du Réel, Krakow Film Festival, Sheffield Doc / Fest) , who were each allowed to submit three of their world premieres of the last festival edition as a proposal. Based on these suggestions and individual submissions, a selection committee consisting of four EFA members and one EDN member decided on a shortlist of 15 documentaries. The more than 3000 members of the European Film Academy selected the nominees and the eventual winner from these.
