The airfield Gundelfingen is the Sonderlandeplatz the Swabian town of Gundelfingen . He is from the Luftsportverein Gundelfingen e. V. operated.

location

The airfield is located about two kilometers north of the historic town center of Gundelfingen in the parcel Auf der Lachen on the border with Medlingen at an altitude of 441  m above sea level. NN . The border with Baden-Württemberg runs three kilometers to the west .

In terms of nature, it is located in the Donauried ; The Nördlinger Ries extends to the north and the area rises towards the perennials to the south .

history

Aviation has been in operation in Gundelfingen since the 1930s. From 1945, the Germans were initially banned from flying by the Allied occupying forces . After the lifting of the flight ban in 1952, the Luftsportverein Gundelfingen e. V. started flying again in the 1950s, initially near Lauingen . In the 1970s, the current site was moved into, leveled, expanded and received approval as a special airfield. Later an aircraft hangar, workshop and the tower were built.

The airfield is approved for aircraft of all types up to 2000 kg MTOW . The owner of the airfield and the operator is the Luftsportverein Gundelfingen e. V.

There are several farm buildings, a tower, a hangar, a winch launch facility and a club house. There is a tow plane, a gas station for stopovers and an oil service is possible.

Incidents

• On April 13, 2009, a Beechcraft aircraft crashed while landing. The machine was badly damaged, the pilot got away with the horror.

traffic

A municipal road opens up the airfield to Bundesstraße 16 . The public transport does not serve the airport directly. At Gundelfingen station there is a possibility to board the trains on the Ingolstadt – Neuoffingen railway line .
