Hot & Heavy , also published under the title Takeoff - Hot & Heavy , is a compilation by the German heavy metal and hard rock band Scorpions, which was released in 1982. It covers the years 1974 to 1977. In 1993 it was re-released.

History and selection of songs

The label RCA Records released this compilation because they owned the rights to the Scorpions songs from 1974 to 1978. Uli Jon Roth played the lead guitar on all songs . For the title Dark Lady , Roth is also the singer of the song. Exclusive or unreleased songs are not on the album, instead two songs each from the albums Fly to the Rainbow ( Speedy's Coming , Far Away ), In Trance ( Dark Lady , Robot Man ) and Virgin Killer ( Catch Your Train , Polar Nights ), as well four from Taken by Force ( Steamrock Fever , I've Got to Be Free , The Riot of Your Time , He's a Woman - She's a Man ).

The cover originally showed a band photo. In 1993 a CD was released on BMG Ariola Miller . This had a different cover artwork (a scorpion ), but the same music titles. The CD version was released three months before the Scorpions album Face the Heat , which the band recorded with Bruce Fairbairn in the winter of 1992/1993 in Vancouver .
