The Zoo (English for "The Zoo") is a song by the German rock band Scorpions . It was first released on the 1980 album Animal Magnetism . It was written by Rudolf Schenker and Klaus Meine .

Emergence

Rudolf Schenker wrote the music for this track on the Lovedrive tour in a hotel in the United States . Klaus Meine later wrote the lyrics to the song. The song is about a street in New York City . The singer tells of a boring day ("... another boring day ...") and the zoo. The track was the penultimate track on the Animal Magnetism album.

music

The song is quite heavy and starts with a quick intro of guitar and drums . Then the song goes through a slow, sluggish riff until the vocals join the verse . The refrain is driving. After this has been repeated, Matthias Jabs uses the talk box . The song then ends with soft music and people talking on the street.

The song The Zoo was also released as a single, on the live album World Wide Live , on the acoustic and live album Acustica, on the DVD Live at Wacken Open Air 2006: A Night to Remember - A Journey Through Time and on the live CD Scorpions Live in 3D . It has also been sold on many compilations and other publications.

The Zoo was covered by Bruce Dickinson . The Smashing Pumpkins and Arch Enemy also covered the song.

The song was number 75 on the Billboard chart in the United States for a week .
