Niklas Landin Jacobsen (born December 19, 1988 in Søborg ) is a Danish handball goalkeeper . He was voted world handball player of the year 2019.
Career
The 2.01 meter tall and 102 kilogram goalkeeper initially played for KFUM København. In 2006 he joined the first division club GOG Svendborg TGI . He was then under contract from February 2010 at the first division club Bjerringbro-Silkeborg . For the 2012/2013 season he moved to the German Bundesliga club Rhein-Neckar-Löwen . In August 2014, his move to THW Kiel for the 2015/16 season , with which he signed a three-year contract, was announced.
With Svendborg he played in the EHF Champions League (2007, 2008, 2009) and in the EHF Cup (2009). With the Rhein-Neckar Löwen he won the EHF Europe Cup in 2013 . In 2017 and 2019 he won the DHB Cup with the THW Kiel. In 2019 he won the EHF Cup with the THW Kiel. A year later he won the German championship.
He is part of the Danish national team , so he played at the 2009 World Cup and won the silver medal with Denmark at the 2011 World Cup . In 2012, Landin won the European Championship with the Danish selection . In the summer of 2012, he took part in the Olympic Games in London and reached the quarter-finals. At the 2013 World Cup in Spain he was again runner-up. At the European Championships in 2014 , he was appointed vice European champion and the best goalkeeper in the All-Star team. He won the gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and was called back to the All-Star team. He became world champion at the 2019 World Cup. In addition, he was elected to the All-Star Team.
