Rebecca Kleefisch (born August 7, 1975 in Pontiac , Michigan ) is an American politician with the Republican Party . She was Lieutenant Governor of the state of Wisconsin from 2011 to 2019 .

Career

Rebecca Reed, her maiden name, graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Madison . She then worked as a TV reporter in Rockford ( Illinois ) and later in Milwaukee . In 2004, she founded her own company named Rebecca Kleefisch Enterprises, Inc . She married Joel Kleefisch , a local politician who was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly . Politically, she did not appear before 2010.

That year she was elected lieutenant governor of Wisconsin as a member of the Republican Party , alongside Scott Walker . She has held this office since 2011. She is Deputy Governor . In 2012 there was a new election of the governor and vice governor in Wisconsin, forced by a referendum. The background was the dissatisfaction with a bill. Both politicians survived these elections and were confirmed in their respective offices. Both the governor and his deputy were re-elected in the regular elections in 2014. In the 2018 elections, Walker and Kleefisch were defeated by the democratic duo of Tony Evers and Mandela Barnes . Her term ended on January 7, 2019.

In 2010, Rebecca Kleefisch contracted colon cancer. She has now overcome this disease.
