Robert Edward Badham (born June 9, 1929 in Los Angeles , California , †  October 21, 2005 in Newport Beach , California) was an American politician . Between 1977 and 1989 he represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Robert Badham attended Beverly Hills public schools . In 1947 he graduated from the local high school. He then studied at Occidental College in Eagle Rock until 1948 . This was followed by studies at Stanford University until 1951 . Between 1951 and 1954 he served in the US Navy Reserve during the Korean War . He then worked as a private businessman. Until 1969 he was a director of the Hoffman Hardware Co. in Los Angeles. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Republican Party . From 1963 to 1976 he was a member of the California State Assembly . From 1962 to 1976 he took part in all regional party conventions in California; between 1964 and 1984 he attended all Republican National Conventions as a delegate .

In the 1976 congressional elections , Badham was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 40th  constituency of California , where he succeeded Andrew J. Hinshaw on January 3, 1977 . After five re-elections, he was able to complete six legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 1989 . In 1988 he renounced another candidacy. After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, Robert Badham withdrew from politics. He died in Long Beach on October 21, 2005.
