Rock with You is a song by Michael Jackson from 1979, first appeared on his album Off the Wall . The piece was released as a single in October 1979 and was a number one hit in the US and Spain . After Ben and Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough , it was Jackson's third number one hit.
To Rock with You Jackson's second music video was produced. Jackson sings the song in a sequined suit against the background of a laser and dances.
As with many songs on Off the Wall and later on Thriller , Rod Temperton was the composer . Originally the song was supposed to be called I Want To Eat You Up , but got the final title because it was felt to be more suitable for Michael Jackson's image.
The song was part of the setlist of Michael Jackson's Bad World Tour and later again as part of a medley on his HIStory World Tour .
On February 27, 2006, the song was released on the album Visionary: The Video Singles .
Cover versions
In late 1995, producer Quincy Jones recorded the song again for his studio album Q's Jook Joint . This time the contemporary R&B singer Brandy sang the song with the rapper and frontman of the group Heavy D. & the Boyz Heavy D. This version was only released as an airplay single on November 7 and reached number 21 on the Billboard Rhythmic Top- 40 and position 74 of the Billboard R&B / Hip-Hop Tracks. In 2005 the title appeared on the singer Brandy's Best of album The Best of Brandy .
Rock with You was also covered by Hugh Masekela and Chuck Loeb . The Brazilian singer Seu Jorge had also covered this song on his album Almaz.
