The Università Politecnica delle Marche is a state university founded in 1969 with headquarters in Ancona, Italy, with branches in Ascoli Piceno , Fermo , Macerata , Pesaro and San Benedetto del Tronto .
The forerunner was the Universitas studii generalis cuiuscum scientiae et facultatis , which was founded in 1548 by the scholar Benvenuto Stracca and recognized by Pope Pius IV in 1562 as the Faculty of Theology and Law. The current university was founded in 1969 as Libera Università di Ancona , the forerunner being the establishment of a faculty for economics and commerce as a branch of the University of Urbino in 1959 . In 2003 the name was changed to Università Politecnica delle Marche (Polytechnic University of Marken).
Today's university is divided into five departments (dipartimenti) :
