The University of Udine ( Friulian : Universitât dal Friûl ; Italian : Università degli Studi di Udine ; Latin : Universitas Studiorum Utinensis ) is an Italian state university in the city of Udine in Friuli .

The University of Udine was founded in 1978 as a bilingual university in connection with the Alps-Adriatic Working Community and with consideration for the desire for autonomy in the region and today has almost 16,000 students.

In 2004 the university founded a Scuola superiore to promote particularly talented students .
