"Brislington Football Club" is a Bristol based league competing against teams all over the south west of the country. With over 50 years of footballing history Brislington is an established member of 4 senior level leagues, one at semi – professional, 2 at amateur level and one at an U18 junior level. In addition, Brislington has a junior section with over 15 teams some of whom playing mid – week or more commonly Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year. Each week Brislington teams turns out just over 300 ageing from 4 – 40 Men, Boys and also Girls, with just over 40 managers all with full FA coaching badges, these teams appear in the newspaper every week. The 1st Team pitch can be located just off the Bath Road (opposite Wyvale Garden Centre) at the bottom of Ironmould Lane where our 1st, Reserve and U18s play. The 3rd Team and junior teams currently play on the UBHT located on the left hand side when turning into Ironmould Lane off the Bath Road.

Brislington was founded in 1956 and began playing in the [[Bristol Church of England League]]. By 1965, the club had reached the senior division of the [[Bristol and Suburban Association Football League]]. In the 1970's, Brislington moved up to the [[Somerset County League]], eventually winning the Premier Division title in 1988-89. Two years later, the club was accepted into the Western League and within four years advanced to the Premier Division, where they have remained. Brislington Football Club is a football club based in Brislington, in Bristol, England. Nicknamed "Briz", they are currently members of the Western League Division One and play at Ironmould Lane.

History[edit]

The club was established in 1956 as an under-16 team, and initially played in the Bristol Church of England League.[3] They won the Somerset Intermediate Cup in 1961–62 and 1962–63, and the Somerset Junior Cup in 1963–64.[3] By 1965 the club were playing in the Senior Division of the Bristol & Suburban League, and during the 1970s they moved up to the Somerset County League.[3] They won the League Cup in 1976–77,[3] and finished as runners-up in the Premier Division in 1979–80, 1983–84 and 1984–85.[4] The club went on to win the Premier Division and the Somerset Senior Cup in 1988–89,[3] and after finishing as runners-up and winning the Senior Cup in 1990–91, they were promoted to Division One of the Western League.[5][6]

Brisligton won the Somerset Senior Cup again in 1992–93, and after a third-place finish in Division One in 1993–94, they won both Division One and the Senior Cup the following season and were promoted to the Premier Division.[6] After winning the Somerset Premier Cup in 1995–96, the club were Premier Division runners-up in 2002–03 and again in 2012–13.[6]
