Hans Krása

The composer's Talk page indicates that you translated the German Wikipedia article to create this one. My query is about the German cultural institutions in pre-WWII Prague with which the composer was affiliated:

• German Music Academy
• Neuen Deutschen Theater (spelling corrected per the German article)
• Deutsches Landestheater

Unfortunately, there's no page in the Czech Wikipedia. From the Slovakian Wikipedia page, I gather that the names would have originally been in Czech. As I read neither Czech nor German, I'm seeking help identifying these, with their actual names and in English-language translation (and ideally with internal links). -- Thanks, Deborahjay (talk) 07:47, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

This newsletter is now the newsletter for both WikiProject Judaism, WikiProject Jewish History, and WikiProject Kabbalah. In the future, I may split them, but for now I think we'll be just fine with one. As always, any questions or comments should be directed to me, L'Aquatique. A Special Dispatch Just a note, not aimed at anyone in particular. By order of the administrative cabal, it is officially not cool (and possibly dickish) to call someone an anti-semite when they aren't being anti-semitic. Anti-semitic is a very charged word, and it's important only to use it when you're absolutely sure it applies, lest it become the subject of a Godwin-esque law. Remember Hanlon's Razor: never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity. In the News A new class on the importance scale has been added- C Class- which covers articles better than start but not quite to B Class yet. It is up to the WikiProjects to decide whether to adopt them or not. Currently, there has been little discussion within our Projects, so if you feel strongly either way be sure to note so at your Project[s]. There is a proposal to reword the section on NPOV regarding religious articles. Please see Wikipedia_talk:NPOV#Religion section - Disputes between historians or scientists and religious_views to weigh in. Thanks largely to the efforts of Xyz7890, a new navbox has come into being featuring Halakha topics. See: Template talk:Halakha to join in the conversation about how it can best be improved. To Do The Simple English Wikipedia is beginning a project of creating and improving articles related to religion, including Judaism. Thanks to everyone who participated in my RfA, regardless of their !vote. I have withdrawn the nomination as a failure at 19 supports, 45 opposes, and 9 neutral statements. As has been written and sung, you can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you get what you need — and what I need is to go back to working on our shared project. Not everyone has to be an admin; there is a role for each of us. After reflection, I feel I don't have the temperament to secure community consensus as an admin at any point, and I will not be applying again in the future — and hey, that's all right, 'cause I stay true to the philosophy that adminship is no big deal: I tried, I failed, and now I'll return to doing what I've always done. I have an extremely strong belief in the consensus process, and the consensus was clear. I will be devoting my energies to volunteering at MedCab and working up a complete series of articles on the short stories of Ernest Hemingway, among lord knows what else. Your concern over my unrevealed past is legit; I could be anyone. I'm not some legendary villain - but there's no way you can know that if I don't open up more, is there? I would never act unilaterally — I'm a hardcore consensus kind of guy who believes in WP:C on personal ideological principle — but I do tend to use everything as a soapbox. WP:CRYSTAL

Regarding Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Omar 'OJ' Koroma, No one has said he might. Saying he will does not violate WP:CRYSTAL. Please don't mispresent the policy - it doesn't help the process. Nfitz (talk) 23:03, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

• Per WP:CRYSTAL, I believe that one can say that the 2008 Olympics will take place or that High School Musical 3 will be released. Signing a player, and especially a young player, on loan does not necessarily guarantee that he will play. It is clear that I have a strict interpretation of "Avoid predicted sports team line-ups, which are inherently unverifiable and speculative." and you do not. I am disagreeing with you, but I think both of our interpretations are entirely legitimate. Like many Wikipedia policies - although perhaps not WP:ATHLETE, which I feel the article does not meet - there is plenty of room for plurality of interpretation. • • I certainly agree about signing a player, etc. But when you are only a couple of weeks from the beginning of the season, the first team is clearly in evidence from the pre-season friendlies, and we have players showing up in every game, that the event of them playing is likely enough that, while I'm not about to start creating articles, that we would be better served not trying to AfD them for a couple of weeks. We had one last week, where the AfD was ongoing, the first game of the season came and went, there were media reports that the player in question was pulled from the starting line-up at the last minute because of immigration issues that would be cleared up in a couple of days, and we still had people shouting WP:CRYSTAL. I do actually have some sympathy with your argument, which is why I didn't mention CRYSTAL in my initial statement. My problem is that WP:ATHLETE is clear and succinct - you are notable if you play - whereas entering the realm of the hypothetical is not. Even though there is legitimate reason to think that this player will play at some point - although I would hesitate to suggest that it is a certainty, because nothing in football is - I really don't like the grey area that it would introduce into these discussions. It is much easier to talk about whether a player has played or not than it is to come to a decision about the likelihood of him playing or not. CRYSTAL is a clumsy weapon to be sure, but it is much easier than having irresolvable, hypothetical arguments. Rje (talk) 16:30, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

• Which all sounds great - but here we are as the season starts, trying to wholesale delete articles, many of which will have to resurrected shortly. I've only been flagging a few where notability seems inevitable, with numerous first team appearances during the final pre-season games. It just seems we should be doing something else other than deleting these at this time. Perhaps a list somewhere, where they get deleted at some future date if nothing happens. Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

Sir Moses Montefore, a Jewish activist who died 123 years ago this month "Censorship" of names of G-d There is an interesting discussion currently taking place regarding whether or not it is acceptable to censor (i.e. G-d, HaShem->YodHey) names of G-d in articles to protect Jews who may be reading or editing the article. Wolterding has generously offered us use of his bot to generate lists that show which articles of ours are tagged for cleanup. In the News The Jewish Barnstar The New Jewish Barnstar There is a collaboration drive to get Holocaust in Lithuania to good article status. For information about how you can help, see the talk page or contact User:Piotrus. WikiProject Kabbalah's only Featured and Good articles have been removed from the WikiProject, on the grounds that neither article (Diane Keaton and David Beckham, respectively) actually mention the subject's affiliation with Kabbalah. If you have sourced information linking either of these people to Kabbalah, please add it so the articles can be returned to the WikiProject. After a rather heated discussion, there are now two barnstars for use by the Jewish WikiProjects, {{The Jewish Barnstar}} and {{The New Jewish Barnstar}}, and you can choose which one you would like to use.. Remember: barnstars are for rewarding users who are doing good work on the project or on Judaism, Jewish History, or Kabbalah articles, and anyone can give anyone else a barnstar. If you see a user who you thinks deserves a thank you, give them a barnstar!
