Rocky Peak

Rocky Peak is the name of the third-highest point in the Santa Susana Mountains, which overlook both Chatsworth and Simi Valley in Southern California. The peak, which is 2,715 feet (828 m) in elevation, sits on the Los Angeles CountyVentura County line. Rocky Peak also marks the point where the county line changes direction from true North to a more North-Westerly direction. A large railroad spike driven into the rocks mark this exact spot on the county line. Rocky Peak, which gets its name from the many large craggy boulders that dot its surface, can be viewed from several locations along Topanga Canyon Blvd., and from the 118 freeway, also known as the Ronald Reagan Freeway.

Rocky Peak has been prominently featured in many classic Hollywood films, due to is relatively close location to the major studios, and its likeness to Old-West Frontier settings.

There are several miles of dirt roads and trails in the Rocky Peak area that are popular among mountain bikers and hikers.

There is also a large, non-denominational Christian Church of the same name located beneath the peak.

The nearest higher neighbor is Oat Mountain (the highest mountain in Santa Susana Mountains) which lies east of the peak.
