Storyline

Tully Alford, the Addams Family attorney, has evicted the clan from their home (based towards the end of the movie) and to make matters worse, Morticia, Pugsley, Wednesday, Granny Addams and Lurch have gone missing. It is up to Gomez to find and save his family before facing his ultimate goal of kicking Alford out of the Addams' rightful home.

Characters

  • Gomez - main character - Gomez Addams is the patriarch of the family and it is his mission to save the family.
  • Morticia - Gomez's wife; she is being held in the attic.
  • Pugsley - Gomez's son; he is being held in his toy box.
  • Wednesday - Gomez's daughter; she is being held in the graveyard.
  • Granny - Gomez's mother; she is being held in the boiler room.
  • Lurch - The Addam's family live-in servant who is virtually mute; he is being held in the river.

Enemies

  • Uncle Fester - Gomez's long-lost brother who has been swayed by Tully; he is the boss in the attic.
  • Tully Alford - The Addams' family attorney and the person who wants the fortune beneath the mansion; he is the final boss of the game.

Gameplay

The game is very open-ended, allowing the player to chose which areas to approach. Each area has an end where Gomez faces a boss and/or receives an item. Typically following this, a family member is rescued.

Abilities

  • Jump - Gomez is able to jump in the air. If he lands on the top of certain enemies, they will be stunned.
  • Use Weapon - Gomez is able to user various weapons he finds on his travels of the estate grounds (see below).
  • Swim - Gomez has the ability to swim in water.

Items

Potions:

  • Frankenstein potion - a potion that turns Gomez into a Frankenstein monster. Sustained until hit ten times.
  • Sea monster potion - a potion that turns Gomez into a sea monster, allowing for faster swimming; found in the river section.
  • Wolfman potion - a potion that turns Gomez into a werewolf, allowing for faster running; found in the boiler room.
  • Dracula potion - a potion that turns Gomez into a vampire bat, allowing him to fly; found in the beehive.

Weapons:

  • Daggers - the initial weapon used be Gomez.
  • Golf clubs - given to Gomez once Wednesday is rescued, this weapon is used to knock enemies off the screen.
  • Ice cubes - given to Gomez from Lurch, these can be used to float across liquid areas; they only work a short time.
  • Icicles - found in the ice box.
  • Hot coals - given to Gomez from Granny in the boiler room; a more powerful main weapon than the daggers.
  • Building blocks - given to Gomez from Pugsley in the toy room; a better version of the ice cubes.

Restorative items:

  • Test tube - an item that restores half of a weapon's energy.
  • Flask - an item that restores all of a weapon's energy.
  • Small heart - an item that restores one of Gomez's life hearts.
  • Large heart - an item that restores two of Gomez's life hearts.

Areas

  • Graveyard - To the right of the home, this area is occupied by tombstones, ghosts, and bats. At the end is a crypt where a Death-like spectre is holding Wednesday captive.
  • Boiler Room - Through a door in the basement, this level consists of rats and a floor of lava. At the end of the level is a Devil-lish fire creature that is keeping Granny captive.
  • The River - On the third floor of the mansion is apparently a in-home river. Gomez must traverse the level in water using the Sea Monster potion. Deadly spikes and fish hinder his path. At the end of the level is a squid that is keeping Lurch captive.
  • Icebox - On the fourth floor of the mansion is a large walk-in icebox. Inside, kitchen utensils fly through the air while Gomez must travel over the ice encrusted floors. With no boss or family member to save at the end, the only item of interest in here is the icicles weapon.
  • Toybox - On the highest floor of the house is Pugsley's room and his toybox where he is being held by his stuffed teddy bear who wields a mace.
  • Attic - Also located on the same floor as the toybox is the entrance to the attic, though it is not accessible until all members of the family are rescued, expect for Morticia. At the end of the area is a boss battle with Uncle Fester who, once defeated, recants his ways and tells Gomez that he was being used by Tully.
  • Cellar - Located on the lowest level of the mansion and only accessible once Uncle Fester is defeated, the cellar is where Tully is hiding Morticia.
