Ocean Software (also Ocean Software Ltd. and sometimes Ocean of America, Inc.) was a British computer game development company.
Company history
The company was founded in 1982 as Spectrum Games by David Ward and Jon Woods in Manchester . In 1983 it was renamed Ocean Software. Ocean produced games for a wide variety of computer platforms: ZX Spectrum , Commodore 64 , Amstrad CPC , Atari ST , Amiga , PC , and video game consoles such as NES and SNES . In 1996, Ocean merged with Infogrames and was renamed Infogrames UK in 1998, then Atari UK in 2003.
In 2004, the source code for some of the Ocean software development tools was published by the then developer, Paul Hughes .
