Midnight Resistance is an action game mix of platformer and shoot 'em up . It initially appeared as an arcade version , later conversions for the Commodore 64 , the Sega Mega Drive or Commodore's Amiga were added. The latter version was developed by Data East , published in 1990 by Ocean Software .

The Amiga version offered a lighter level of difficulty and improved controls than the arcade version, which made the game a hit at the time.

You play a hero alone or in a cooperative partnership at the same time , who has to free his kidnapped family and defeat a large group of mercenaries, tanks, jets and many other enemies. For this purpose, the player has various (extra) weapons available, which can be bought at the end of each level , which can scroll in different directions , for keys stolen from defeated opponents.

The end of the game changes depending on how many family members are saved from the final battle. For the "correct" ending, the player must have the full number of six red keys to free all prisoners.

Pony Canyon / Scitron released a limited-edition soundtrack album for this game (Crude Buster, Midnight Resistance - PCCB-00039) on August 21, 1990.
