"Ready for the Floor"
Song

"Ready for the Floor" is a single by Hot Chip, from their 2008 album Made in the Dark. Ready for the Floor is the third track on the album.

Music video

The music video involves Alexis Taylor in 2 and 1/2 body styles: himself as The Joker from the Batman comics and as himself. The video is inspired by Japanese Television and ties in the theme of the Joker as Alexis challenges the other band members by means of tampering with physics. In the beginning of the video, all of the band members' clothes are grey and they gradually upgrade to brighter colors once they manage to pass each challenge. Many more references to the Joker are made, as one of the repeated lyrics is "You're my number one guy" which is a line by Carl Grissom the Joker's former boss from the 1989 film Batman.[1]

Kylie Minogue collaboration

Some media reports incorrectly asserted that Hot Chip had originally written the song "Ready for the Floor" for the Australian singer Kylie Minogue. This misinformation originated from a self-deprecating joke made by the band's guitarist Al Doyle, in which he claimed that the song was "not good enough for Kylie". In fact, a request from Minogue's management for a song to be submitted for the singer has not yet been fulfilled by the band.[2][3]
