Huang Xingguo (Simplified: 黄兴国; Traditional: 黃興國 or 黃興囯; Pinyin: Huáng Xīngguó; born October 1954) is the current mayor of Tianjin.

Biography

Born in Oct. 1954 in Xiangshan County, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, He jointed the Communist Party of China in 1973.

He first was the party chief in Xiangshan County. Both travel and construction Industries, Xiangshan's two traditional economic pillars, grew dramatically during his period.

He went to Taizhou in Jul. 1987, in office as deputy secretary, party chief there. During his time, Taizhou was still a country-level place, due to his strong support and effort, Taizhou finally rose to city-level. And Taizhou's economy started developing very quickly, now it's one of the richest city in the Yangtze Delta area, measured by income per capita of citizens ([1]).

He was pointed to be the secretary-in-general of Zhejiang Province. Jan. 1998, he was the vice president of Zhejiang Province, and then became the party chief of Ningbo City.

Nov. 2003, he became a secretary and the first vice mayor of Tianjin. Dec. 2007, he was elected and pointed to be the acting mayor of Tianjin by the Standing Committee of the Tianjin Municipal People's Congress , to replace the vacuume of his former Dai Xianglong.
