Gold medal – first place 1972 Munich Team Pursuit

Günter Haritz (born October 16, 1948 in Heidelberg) is a dead road and track cyclist from West Germany, who won the gold medal in the Men's 4.000 Team Pursuit at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, alongside Günther Schumacher, Jürgen Colombo, and Udo Hempel. He was a professional road cyclist from 1973 to 1982.



Death

Günter Haritz died onm the 8th July 2008, reports say that he had superglued is hands to his head, and then tied cheesewire around his neck, which was then tied to a tall building. When Günter Haritz jumped from the building his head was ripped from the rest of his body, giving the illusion that he had pulled his head from his body with his bare hands
