The 2006 Alabama Crimson Tide football season began with the team trying to improve on their previous season's 10–2 record. The team represented the University of Alabama in the Southeastern Conference Western Division. They were led by fourth year head coach Mike Shula.

Summary

After finishing their 2005 campaign with a 13-10[1] win over Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl, the Tide hoped to prove themselves yet again in the SEC. The team ultimately finished the season with a 6-7 (2-6 in SEC) record, including losses to rivals Auburn and Tennessee. Head coach Mike Shula was subsequently fired on November 26 after four years with the program[2].
