CNS Cetate Deva is a Romanian professional football club from Deva, Hunedoara County, Romania, founded in 2013.

History

County League (2013–2015)

The club was founded in the summer of 2013 to continue the football tradition in Deva after all the clubs based here were dissolved during the years.

On their first season after founding they reached the third place in 2013–14 Liga IV, but this time they not promoted to Liga III.

Next year in the 2014–15 Liga IV they won the championship and qualifided to the play-offs against Gilortul Târgu Cărbuneşti the champions of Liga IV Gorj County in the play-offs promotion match for a place in next league Liga III. In the home match they beat them (8–2) and secured the promotion. Away they won (1–3) and they promoted in Liga III for the first time in their history.[1]

Professional Leagues (2015–Present)

Cetate Deva debuted very good in the 2015–16 Liga III with a victory over CSO Filiaşi (3–1). All the season was a good one for the newest Deva team, which finished on the 6th place.[2]

In the summer of 2016, Cetate Deva started the training with a new coach, former Corvinul Hunedoara player, Ciprian Pepenar, with a squad composed mainly of Liga I and Liga II former players and with the objective of promoting to Liga II. After a disastrous start Ciprian Pepenar was sacked and former Oțelul Galați player and coach Viorel Tănase was hired. Also in the last rounds of the first part Ousmane N'Doye signed with the club, which began to climb in the league table.[3][4]

Stadium

Cetate Deva plays its home matches on the Cetate Stadium which also was used by Mureșul Deva, the stadium has a total capacity of 4.000 seats.
