Amietia is a genus of frogs in the family Pyxicephalidae, endemic to central and southern Africa. The genus was formerly named Afrana, and was placed in the family Ranidae. They are commonly known as large-mouthed frogs or river frogs.[1]
Etymology
The generic name, Amietia, is in honor of French herpetologist Jean-Louis Amiet.
