The World Checklist<ref name=q> gives ''Aparisthmium cordatum'' as the correct name of this species, but Tropicos<ref name=mo> maintains that ''Aparisthmium'' is an illegitimate superfluous name. Tropicos says that the correct name should be ''[[Conceveiba cordata]]'' <small>A. Juss.,</small> in the genus ''[[Conceveibum]]'' <small>A.Rich. ex A.Juss. </small> Note the differing endings, ''Conceveiba'' vs. ''Conceveibum''. There is another genus, ''Conceveiba'' Aubl.. 1775, also in the Euphorbiaceae, not the same thing as ''[[Conceveibum]]'' <small>A.Rich. ex A.Juss. 1824.

Aparisthmium is a plant genus of the family Euphorbiaceae[3] first described as a genus in 1840.[4][5] It contains only one known species, Aparisthmium cordatum, native to South America and Costa Rica.[2][6][7][8][9][10]
